Dennis Kavanaugh has been a shareholder in the Mesa, Arizona law firm Dennis Kavanaugh PC since 1990. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Arizona.
His practice is limited to Arizona worker compensation matters and Social Security Disability claims of Arizona residents.
Dennis has an extensive background in disability law. Dennis has handled worker compensation matters since 1984 when he served as an attorney and Chief Counsel of the Industrial Commission of Arizona. He has been in private practice since 1988. He has lectured on worker compensation law for the State Bar of Arizona, the Arizona Self-Insurer’s Association, the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association and the East Valley Bar Association. He is a member of the worker compensation section of the State Bar of Arizona and well as the national association of worker compensation attorneys known as the Workers Injury Law and Advocacy Group or WILG.
Dennis is a longtime member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives, also known as NOSSCR. He appears before Social Security judges in SSA hearing offices in Phoenix and Tucson and also at telephonic hearings held in the Globe SSA-District office. Dennis has handled Social Security Disability claims since 1998.
His undergraduate degree is from Saint Louis University and his law degree is from Arizona State University. He has been licensed to practice law in Arizona since 1978 and is also admitted to practice in US District Court in Arizona and the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. In college, Dennis was awarded memberships in Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Sigma Nu (the national Jesuit honor society).
In terms of attorney rankings, Dennis has achieved the highest professional ranking available in America, the “AV Preeminent Lawyer” ranking by the Martindale-Hubbell ranking service.
In his career, Dennis has represented hundreds of clients from throughout Arizona in worker compensation and Social Security Disability matters. His office is located in the East Valley portion of the Phoenix Metropolitan area in Maricopa County. Many of his clients have also come from Gila and Pinal Counties.
Dennis has been very active in public service on the local, state and national levels. He served nearly 17 years on the Mesa City Council including 4 years as Mesa Vice- Mayor. He has served on the boards of numerous community organizations. He currently is serving on the boards of the Mesa Arts Center Foundation, Mesa Sister Cities, Visit Mesa and the Arizona Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
